The First Deputy Governor of Dhamar, Fahd Abdul Hamid Al-Marouni, today inaugurated six water projects in the Dhoran Anas district after their rehabilitation.
The rehabilitation was implemented by the Islamic Relief Organization with funding from the Yemen Humanitarian Fund, in coordination with the Supreme National Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the General Authority for Rural Water, at a cost of $200,000.
Deputy Al-Marouni inaugurated solar-powered pumping systems for the Beit Jabhan, Bani Issa, Dhulaym, Hadqah, Beit Al-Qari, and Bani Hazim water projects, as well as a project to supply and install transmission lines from the collection tank to the distribution tank, and to restore and rehabilitate the distribution network and tank for the Ghayl Al-Marouni water project.
During the inauguration, Deputy Al-Marouni praised the efforts of the Supreme National Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the General Authority for Rural Water, and Islamic Relief in implementing these projects, which benefit 18,260 people in the targeted areas.
He called on organizations to adopt such projects aimed at alleviating human suffering and providing increased support to various sectors in the governorate.
Eng. Saleh Al-Falahi, Director of the General Authority for Rural Water Projects, emphasized the Authority's keenness to follow up with organizations to obtain funding for drinking water projects in the governorate. He noted that projects are currently being implemented in a number of districts and will be launched in the coming period.
Eng. Munir Al-Marouni, Director of the Supreme National Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, pointed out that the governorate faces many challenges due to the ongoing displacement process. He called on organizations to work to increase the volume of support provided to the governorate, which would contribute to alleviating the human suffering resulting from the aggression and siege.
Mohammed Al-Mahdi, Director of the Doran District, praised the efforts of the Supreme National Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in addressing the humanitarian situation by adopting specific projects that contribute to meeting the existing needs in various areas of the district. He also commended the efforts of the Rural Water Authority and the Relief Organization in supervising the implementation of the project.
In turn, the Director of the Islamic Relief Organization (IRO) branch, Engineer Mohammed Al-Hardi, explained that the rehabilitation of these projects falls within the framework of the Emergency Aid, Water, and Sanitation Project, which aims to save the lives of the most vulnerable groups (internally displaced persons and host communities) and reduce excess morbidity and mortality in the Dhoran District. He noted that the organization is currently implementing several projects in the sectors of roads, water, emergency food aid, supplementary feeding, and cash-for-work.
Sinan Al-Tam, Director of Masdar Engineering for Renewable Energy Company, reviewed the steps taken to complete the projects in accordance with approved technical and engineering specifications.
The opening ceremony was attended by the local member of the district, Mohammed Ahmed Issa, representatives of the IRO Emergency Aid Project, Engineer Omar Al-Mikhlafi and Engineer Mohammed Al-Moujani, the Food for Asset Rehabilitation Projects Officer, Engineer Ayman Al-Muhaya, and the Director of the Facilities Management Department at the Oil Company branch, Tariq Al-Qahoum.
